On February 28 – March 7, 2023, the Directorate of Human Resources of Universitas Gadjah Mada (DSDM UGM) held the Basic Training for UGM Permanent Lecturers (Latsar). Basic Training for UGM Permanent Lecturers is held via Zoom and offline at the UGM Postgraduate School. The total number of participants in this activity was 113, with the most coming from the Faculty of Medicine, Public Health, and Nursing and the Faculty of Engineering, 16 people each. The Training was opened by the Director of Human Resources, Suadi, S.Pi., M.Agr.Sc., Ph.D., who emphasized that this Basic Training is a process of introducing UGM to lecturers who have just joined regarding the institutional introduction and basic professional capabilities. After this background, it is hoped that participants may carry out the Tri Dharma well.
The first day of this Training began with material on Understanding General Policy UGM Institutionalism and Campus Master Plans by the Director of Planning (Ely Susanto, S.IP., MBA., Ph.D.) and Director of Information Systems and Resources (Dr. A.S. Ridi Ferdiana, S.T., M.T). Followed by the submission of UGM HR Management Policy Directions by the Vice-Rector for Human Resources and Finance, Prof. Dr. Supriyadi, M.Sc. The third topic is UGM towards World Class University (WCU), delivered by the Head of Quality Assurance Office, Prof. Dr. Indra Wijaya Kusuma, MBA. Closing the activities on the first day, the Head of the Law Office and Organization, Dr. Veri Antoni, S.H., M.Hum. delivered material Introduction to Organizational Structure at UGM.
The second day of Latsar begins with Institutional Engagement material by the Director of Human Resources, Suadi, S.Pi., M.Agr.Sc., Ph.D. Next, Why are we here; Why Become a Lecturer at UGM? Pancasila and State Defense delivered by Achmad Munjid, M.A., Ph.D. Then the material on Scientific Ethics, Fraud, and Plagiarism was delivered by the Vice-Rector for Research, Business Development and CooperationIgnatius Susatyo Wijoyo, S.E., M.M., along with Director of Research, Dr. Mirwan Ushada, STP. M.App.Life. Sc. Finally, on the second day, closed by Prof. Dr. Didi Achjari, S.E., M.Com., Akt. with the material Lecturer Leadership in Achieving UGM Vision and Mission.
On the third day, there were four materials presented by the speakers:
1) Academic Innovation in the Industrial Age 5.0 by Dr. Ir. Hatma Suryatmojo, S.Hut., M.Sc., IPU.,
2) Developing an Academic Career: Access and Networking delivered by Prof. Dr. Eng. Ir. Deendarlianto, S.T., M.Eng.,
3) Index and Publication Funding Access, SINTA by Dr. Mirwan Ushada, STP. M.App.Life.Sc., and
4) Change Management delivered by Dr. Sumaryono, M.Sc.
Then on the fourth day, the material presented was the Role of Lecturers in Community Service, delivered by Dr. dr. Rustamaji, M. Kes. Furthermore, Academic Writing Method, Designing Research Proposals and Research Funding by Prof. Dr. Abdul Rohman, S.F., Apt., M.Sc., and Lecturer Career Development delivered by Prof. Dr. Faturochman, M.A.
The fifth day of the UGM Lecturer Center is the last day for delivering material before the field trip at Wanagama; on the fifth day is a panel discussion session related to staffing from the Directorate of Human Resources, namely the Introduction of Personnel Administration to support Lecturer Career Development guided by the Structural Team of the Directorate of Resources. On this occasion, application socialization material was also delivered to HR to support lecturer careers through SIMASTER, SISTER, and PDDIKTI.
Furthermore, on the sixth day, the participants visited Wanagama, Gunungkidul. Participants depart using the bus provided by the UGM HR Directorate. The visit to Wanagama is a form of introduction to UGM’s living laboratory in the form of forests managed by the UGM Faculty of Forestry. This activity also closed the Basic Training for UGM Permanent Lecturers 2023 activities. The satisfaction survey on the questionnaire showed the excellent impression conveyed by the participants, includingOverall the implementation of Latsar Lecturer 2023 is going very well and effectively and can be a means of building networks as a start in carrying out many collaborations and collaborations to support the implementation of the tri dharma of higher education in the future.
