The Directorate of Human Resources at Universitas Gadjah Mada (DSDM UGM), in collaboration with Bank BNI and the Tax Office (KPP) Pratama Sleman, organized a webinar titled “Personal Financial Management and Socialization of Personal Tax Reporting for UGM Lecturers and Staff in 2024” on Thursday (21/3). Nearly 2000 participants attended the webinar.
The webinar commenced with opening remarks from the Secretary of the Directorate of Human Resources at Universitas Gadjah Mada, Endri Heriyanto, S.H., M.Kn. In his address, he emphasized, “A profound understanding of how to manage personal finances effectively will have a positive impact on our daily lives, especially in the future. Personal financial management skills are not only crucial for individual financial success but also affect overall well-being, including mental health and personal relationships. Additionally, after attending this webinar, employees are expected to accurately compile their tax obligations.”
R. Iwan Djayalaksana from BNI’s Head Office in Jakarta also delivered remarks, stating, “Through this initiative, we can provide accurate insights into personal financial management, thus helping us avoid financial pitfalls.” Representatives from BNI’s branch office at UGM were also present at the event.
The first session featured a presentation by Rifaldi Pratama Suryadi from BNI’s Head Office, focusing on Personal Financial Management. Rifaldi reminded participants to plan their finances for the future, emphasizing that everyone experiences financial cycles (Financial Pattern) throughout life. Uncontrolled financial cycles can lead to long-term Financial Disasters. To mitigate financial disasters, Rifaldi suggested several preparations, including ensuring that liquid assets are at least 3 times monthly expenses, allocating a minimum of 10% for savings/investment, and limiting installment payments to a maximum of 30%-40% of monthly income.
The second session featured two speakers from KPP Pratama Sleman. Maharani Puspitasari delivered the first presentation, covering topics such as the income tax section 21 deduction rate, changes in the PPh 21 scheme, simulations comparing tax burden calculations under PP 58 of 2023 with previous provisions, and examples of income tax section 21 calculations for permanent employees receiving income in a tax year. The second speaker, Melina Susilowati, discussed the completion of Personal Annual Tax Returns (SPT), including scenarios involving wives working for multiple employers. She also provided examples of combined or separate NPWP tax calculations (MT). At the end of her presentation, Melina advised that if participants forget their EFIN password, they do not need to visit the tax office; instead, they can independently obtain a new password through the M-Tax Application.
