On Friday, October 7, 2022, the Directorate of Human Resources (DSDM) of UGM held a Green Walk and Fire Fighting Training with APAR and HYDRANT for UGM DSDM Employees. This activity aims to provide knowledge to DSDM employees regarding fire management and provide participants with an understanding of the first steps in dealing with light and moderate fires.
This Fire Fighting Training was conducted in collaboration with the UGM Center for Security, Safety, Occupational Health and Environment (PK4L). Firefighting training with APAR (light fire extinguisher) and HYDRANT was held at the PK4L UGM Emergency and Disaster Response Post, Tevesia Street, Bulaksumur, Yogyakarta. A total of 74 DSDM employees started the activity by gathering at the west wing of Grha Sabha Pramana and then walking to the PK4L UGM Emergency and Disaster Response Post to start the training.
The Firefighter Training Training with APAR and HYDRANT is divided into four training practices: the practice of extinguishing fires using 3 kg LPJ gas, traditional fire fighting practices using the blanket drum method, and fire fighting using a light fire extinguisher (APAR), and extinguishing fire practices using a hydrant. All participants must try the practice in each activity to feel the sense of emergency response. One of the participants, Caesar Nia Salamah, S.IP., testified that “training was fun and fun because all participants were given the opportunity to actively participate, and of course, this kind of training is beneficial as disaster mitigation. Hopefully, there can be more training like this.” (DSDM/Rista).
