On December 20, 2021, the Directorate of Human Resources of Universitas Gadjah Mada (DSDM UGM) held the Closing of the Educational Laboratory System (PLP) Internship Program in 2021. The PLP Dikti Internship Program is a collaboration program between the Directorate General of Higher Education and Universitas Gadjah Mada. The Internship Program was conducted for two months, from October 2 to November 29, 2021. The PLP Dikti Internship Program participants were 23 Lab Technicians from various universities in Indonesia. There are two laboratories used in this Internship Program, namely at the Laboratory of Medicine, Public Health, and Nursing at the Faculty of Medicine, Public Health and Nursing (FKKMK), and the Laboratory of Microbiology at the Faculty of Biology. 13 participants took internships at the FKKMK laboratory, and 10 participants took internships in the Microbiology Laboratory. The closing of the PLP Dikti Internship Program began as the Director of Human Resources, Dr. Ratminto, M.Pol.Admin. delivered the opening speech. Ratminto said that higher education must develop continually, and the academic community will always be required to always be active in responding to changes. Currently, research activities at Higher Education (PT) are crucial for the running of MBKM (Merdeka Belajar – Merdeka Campus) and the improvement of research competence at the University.
Furthermore, the main speaker was Dr. dr. Eti Nurwening Sholikhah, M.Kes., said that the PLP Internships Program at UGM had run smoothly. The participants are eager and orderly in learning and assignment. After surveying the participants, the participants’ satisfaction shows the satisfactory result and adequate numbers. Thus, the knowledge acquired by the participants is expected to be implemented in real situations. Although there are some obstacles in online learning, namely network limitations in this program, all participants are declared to graduate and get a certificate from Dikti.
An intern from Jember State University, Bagus Setiawan, said: “it’s nice to say that this training is outstanding, and although some of the knowledge taught is new, it is detailed as a trigger to be the better Lab Technicians, and participants can also transfer their knowledge on their respective campuses.” Another intern from Mataram University, Muchsin, said that “the PLP Internship not only teaches science about laboratories but also time management.” The structured tasks are given to discipline the participants. Muchsin also said that writing scientific journals assistance is appreciated in this training.
