The Directorate of Human Resources, in collaboration with the UGM Laboratory Technician Curriculum Team, organizes The Advanced Laboratory Technician Training (Level 3). The Advanced Laboratory Technician Training is held annually for Laboratory Technicians and Educational Laboratory System (PLP) in UGM, following their respective levels and competency areas. Advanced Laboratory Technician Training aims to: improve skills and enhance insights to Laboratory Technicians, hone skills according to the field of laboratory, master the use of laboratory tools and materials, master the operation and maintenance of instruments, compile the Standard Operating Procedure for tool preparation in general, and make research proposals.
Under the Circular Letter No. 3842/UN1. P/SET-R/TR/2020 on Towards a New Normal Order at Gadjah Mada University on June 4, 2020, DSDM decided to conduct the Advanced Laboratory Technician Training 2022 through online and offline meetings. Online meetings are for theoretical material, and offline meetings are for practical activities. The Advanced Laboratory Technician Training 2022 is due for a month, and the opening celebration conducted en bloc Monday, January 17, 2022. There are seven fields of study chosen for this year’s training, namely Biology, Physics, Biomedical Human, Chemistry, Computers, Machinery and Electricity. The Advanced Laboratory Technician Training 2022 welcomed 67 participants that joined this year’s training.
The teaching team in this training is Lecturers of Laboratory Technicians from various fields of science and Faculty/ School such as Faculty of Biology, Faculty of Pharmacy, Faculty of Dentistry, Faculty of Medicine, Public Health and Nursing, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Faculty of Agricultural Technology, Faculty of Engineering, and Vocational School. There was one public subject that was mandatory for all participants. That subject was video-making in supporting the learning process because of the high demands on up-to-date learning systems. Communication media, one of which is video, is needed in the transfer of knowledge process.
At the Opening, the Director of Human Resources, Dr. Ratminto, M.Pol. Admin., gave a speech and expressed gratitude for the technical teams’ participation, PIC, and speakers who have cooperated in designing and preparing with the DSDM for this annual training. With the continuation of this year’s event, DSDM expects the creation of skilled laboratory technician trainees and experts in their fields. (Rista/DSDM)
